ALABAMA, (WDHN) — If you’ve ever considered auditioning for a singing competition now is your chance to do so for one of television’s most well known.
American Idol is holding virtual live auditions over Zoom for Alabama on Monday.
The competition began holding the Idol Across America Auditions virtually because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
One of the show’s producers says this has allowed them to reach a lot more people nationwide.
“You’re in the comfort of your own home,” American Idol Senior Producer Melissa Elfar said. “You can do it when it’s convenient for you. You don’t have to drive out, wait in line, take a day off work. You don’t have to do any of that anymore. You literally just can be on your cell phone, click a link and be auditioning for American Idol that could potentially change the rest of your life.”
Producers want to see an impressive vocal performance, but that’s not all they’re looking for.
“Be authentic, your authentic self. It works. Don’t try to be someone that you think we want you to be. That usually doesn’t work. Be yourself, bring your own originality. Bring your artistry.”
To audition you must be between the ages of 15 and 28.
All you have to do is visit americanidol.com/auditions.
If Alabama’s date doesn’t work for you, you can pick any of the others.
Should you make it past Zoom auditions you’ll hit the road to audition in person in front of Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Alabama’s own Lionel Richie.
