PIKE COUNTY, Ala (WDHN) — Two Alabama National Guardsmen were injured after a one-vehicle crash occurred during a convoy in Pike County.
According to the Alabama National Guard, the two Guardsmen were injured after their military vehicle turned over on Highway 321 South of Troy at around 9:30 a.m.
The soldiers were transported to a nearby hospital and one was reported to be in critical condition. No other injuries have been reported.
Their names are being withheld until 24 hours after the next of kin has been notified.
Both lanes of Highway 231 South near mile marker 173 in Pike County were blocked for around five hours but they were cleaned and are now back open.
The crash occurred while the soldiers were traveling in a convoy to a training event, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
The Alabama National Guard is working with Alabama Law Enforcement to reclaim the vehicle.
