ALABAMA (WDHN) — Governor Kay Ivey’s Office has announced the state once again reached record-low unemployment.

According to the Governor’s office, in February 2023, the state dropped to 2.5% unemployment, a 0.1% drop from January.

February’s rate represents 56,221 unemployed persons around the state.

All of the Wiregrass counties have dropped in unemployment rates since January 2023:

  • Coffee County- 2.5% unemployment
    • A drop from 2.7% in January
  • Geneva County- 2.2% unemployment
    • A drop from 2.4% in January
  • Houston County- 2.4% unemployment
    • A drop from 2.8% in January
  • Henry County- 2.4% unemployment
    • A drop from 2.8% in January
  • Covington County- 2.7% unemployment
    • A drop from 2.8% in January
  • Pike County- 2.5% unemployment
    • A drop from 2.7% in January
  • Barbour County- 4.2% unemployment
    • A drop from 4.6% in January

Both Dothan City and Enterprise City have an unemployment rate of 2.5%.

Once again, we’ve hit a record low unemployment rate. While it may seem like we break these records month after month, we know that even with record low unemployment, we still have a duty to provide good, quality jobs to every Alabamian who wants one.
