HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — On Monday morning, Houston County Commissioners were presented with a presentation outlining all Rebuild Alabama projects.

Every year, Houston County Road and Bridges are required by law to present an annual report on how they spent every single penny of funds from Rebuild Alabama.

With the county receiving a little over $1 million from the Rebuild Alabama’s gas tax for 2021, plus a $5 million bond the county took out two years ago, they were able to resurface 12 roads this year.

“Grading of our roadways, and we try to look at that grading and determine which projects need it the worse.” Assistant County Engineer Tyler Reed said. “Obviously, the ones that need it the worst, we start with them and see how far our monies can go based on what the commission allows us to spend.”

Reeder tells WDHN, on top of the county finishing all of its planned projects for 2021, the county came in $100,000 under budget.
