Michael Rinker, Anchor/Multimedia Journalist
Michael Rinker co-anchors WDHN’s morning show, Wake Up Wiregrass, and midday show, WDHN Daytime with Katrice Nolan. Those shows air weekdays 5 a.m. – 7 a.m. and Daytime begins at 11 a.m.
Rinker joined the WDHN news staff in June of 2020 as the Sports Director where he worked at that role for seven months before switching over to the news desk in February.
Michael was born and raised in northern Virginia about fifty minutes south of D.C. which bred him to be a huge Washington sports fan! Growing up, Michael played numerous sports including football, baseball, wrestling, and soccer. Entering high school, wrestling became his passion as both his father and grandfather were division one wrestlers.
After high school, Michael attended his father’s alma mater, West Virginia University. There he majored in broadcast journalism with a minor in sports communications. He is fresh out of college having graduated in May of 2020. During his time as a Mountaineer, Rinker worked for the athletic department specifically assisting the school’s media department with game day telecasts. He was also the main anchor for WVU news as well as the Sports anchor, WVU news is the student ran newscast!
Outside of work, Michael enjoys watching and playing sports, hiking and hanging out in the community!
In his short time in Dothan, he has enjoyed the community and how passionate the state is for their football and is a member of First Presbyterian Church.
