Sylvie Sparks, Anchor/Multimedia Journalist

Sylvie Sparks serves as WDHN’s Sports Director.

She anchored and produced WDHN’s weekend newscasts from September 2021 until December 2022.

She also spent time as a co-anchor, along with Michael Rinker, on Wake Up Wiregrass and WDHN Daytime.

Sylvie was born and raised in Palm Desert, California, but her family is originally from Jasper, Alabama.

She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism in May 2020 where she earned her degree in journalism while focusing on sports media.

While at USC, Sylvie was a member of the Annenberg Women’s Leadership Society and spent much of her time working for Annenberg Media, the award-winning student-run news organization. She was a sports anchor as well as a general news and sports reporter for Annenberg TV News. Her time at Annenberg Media gave her the opportunity to cover many sporting events in the Los Angeles area including NCAA football, her favorite sport.

Sylvie had internships at FOX Sports, Spectrum News 1 SoCal and NBC Palm Springs. In the Spring of 2019, she studied abroad in London where she reported on the effects of Brexit on the Premier League and explored Europe. At USC she was an active member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

In her free time Sylvie enjoys traveling, serving with student ministries at church, spending time at Smith Lake, and cheering on her USC Trojans, her mom’s Alabama Crimson Tide and her dad’s Auburn Tigers.

Sylvie’s goal post-graduation was to move to the South as she has wanted to live in Alabama since she was young. She is so excited to be getting back to her family’s home state roots in the Wiregrass.
