WIREGRASS, Ala (WDHN)— With Memorial Day right around the corner, it’s important to know where you can go to honor the fallen.

Here are the local events happening for Memorial Day:

  • Wiregrass Memorial Day Ceremony at Sunset Memorial Park
    • The 17 Annual Wiregrass Memorial Day Ceremony will start at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 29, and will pay tribute to the fallen heroes and their sacrifices. The event is free and open to the whole family. It will include a keynote speaker, patriotic music, cannon firing, taps playing, a picnic lunch, and a flower-laying ceremony.
  • Harley Davidson Memorial Day Charity Ride and Celebration
    • Registration for the charity ride will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the ride will start at 10:30 a.m. Fees are $20 per bike and $5 per rider.
    • The Tyler Sherpard Wheelie Wizard Shows will be 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.
  • Bama Slam Memorial Day Weekend Party
    • Bama Slam will be hosting the 4-day mini-festival from Friday, May 26 to Monday, May 29.
    • Musical artists Maddie & Tae, The Cadillac Three, Tanner Usrey, Hunter Clark, DJ Slxxpy Head, and more will be performing on the outside Beach Stage throughout the festival.
    • Belly Flop competitions will be held on Saturday and Sunday. It will have $500 in payouts.
    • The “Slam Warrior” competition will be held on Slam Island in the Swimming Hole.
    • Tickets are $20.
  • City of Enterprise Remember and Honor Memorial Day Celebration
    • On Friday, May 26, at 9:00 a.m. the City of Enterprise will hold a proclamation and wreath-laying ceremony at the Wall of Freedom at Johnny Henderson Park.
    •  Josh Carnley, Alabama State Senate District 31 representative, will speak after the proclamation from Mayor William Cooper.
    • After the ceremony, at 10:00 a.m., Veterans Service Organizations will be placing more than 1500 flags at the gravesites of deceased Veterans at the Meadowlawn Cemetary located at 6121 Highway 27, in Enterprise.
  • Daleville Memorial Day Ceremony
    • The Daleville Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 29, at 9:00 a.m. at the Daleville Memorial Gardens on Highway 84 East.
