DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Austin Parsons, an actor based out of Enterprise and a graduate of Enterprise High School, making a huge jump in his career as he will share the big screen with some of the biggest names in the movie industry.
“It’s called 97 Minutes it got Alec Baldwin, Johnathan Rhys Meyers with well-known cast members from The Witcher and Doctor Who but it’s a plan-hijacking thriller filmed in England and I had a blast making it,” Parsons said.
Parsons has a speaking role in the movie ’97 Minutes’ as he plays a character named ‘Red’ who is a passenger on the plane that’s getting hijacked.
“He doesn’t really take well to authority and so you will see he has some issues with these guys,” He said.
In January 2022, Parsons got the call to head to England for a part in the movie from Jamie Thompson a well-seasoned producer of the movie.
He has worked on films with him previously that have aired on ION TV (A New Lease on Christmas) and a show on Crackle (Salvage Marines) but nothing of this caliber among well-known actors like Alec Baldwin.
“To be in the same movie as Alec Baldwin has been a treat I never thought I would be where I am today,” He said. “As for meeting him, I haven’t yet because I don’t have any scenes with him but I have seen his acting in the film and he is superb.”
Although Parsons was born in Germany, he says his true home is Enterprise — he has moved to many states during his childhood since he is a military child.
But Enterprise embraced him, especially with opportunities he was involved with the community theatre at Enterprise State Community College and the inner theater Southern Broadway.
He hopes with this movie he can put Enterprise on the map.
“If it’s able to put Enterprise on the map I’m all for it I want to create opportunities for people who might have a similar interest to me who live in Enterprise,” He added.
The movie hit theaters on June 9 however some theaters may not be showing the movie at this time. It’s on Video on Demand, YouTube, and Amazon Prime to rent or buy.
