SKIPPERVILLE, Ala. (WDHN) — The G.W. Long softball team is back in the Class 2A state tournament for another year.

The Rebels already have three state championships under their belt and now they are trying to make it four.

They head to the tournament with a 26-11 record and ranked eighth statewide.

Seniors on the team already know what that winning feeling is like but say to win it as a senior would be more special than ever before.

“We’ve done well throughout the season, but I’m ready to just see what we can really get done,” senior Dallas Potter said.

“Our pitchers do a great job, but we’re going to have to hit the ball well to beat teams once we get to state,” senior Emmaline Hughes said.

The Rebels first game of the tournament is against Thorsby on Friday at 9 a.m. in Oxford.
