GENEVA, Ala. (WDHN) — The Geneva softball team loaded the buses to the Class 4A state tournament Wednesday morning.

Students and staff lined the halls to cheer the team on as they head to Oxford.

The Panthers are ranked tenth in the state and are making their first state tourney appearance since 2019.

First year head coach Ashley Bell says she is so proud of how hard this group works and believes if they keep it up they’ll be successful at state.

“We need to keep our emotions even, not get too high not get too low,” Bell said. “Have fun. As you can see they like to have fun in the dugout. I said bring it all out let’s go. We’re just going to keep doing what we’ve been doing to get us here. We’re not doing anything different. Be consistent on defense, consistent pitching, consistent at the bat and they’re a lot of fun.”

The Panthers take on Northside Thursday at 9 a.m. in Oxford for game one.
