ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WDHN) — Thousands of people swarmed the streets of downtown Enterprise for the 5th annual Whoville Celebration.
This event is Enterprise’s version of Dr. Seuss’ “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”.
Children and adults got to take a picture with Mr. Cuddly as a cactus himself but also got to show off their best Who-costume.
190 vendors participated and organizers believe 20,000 people visited throughout the celebration.
This event comes two months after a fire burned several downtown businesses, but they say it just shows the City of Progress’s resiliency.
“Downtown Enterprise is resilient,” Main Street Executive Director, Mariah Montgomery said. “So we are focusing on all the good and all the festive. People coming out and enjoying the time with their families. That’s what Christmas is all about. Spreading that joy and we are just excited people are doing it here in downtown Enterprise.”
The event was held from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
It ended with those in attendance joining hands around the Boll Weevil monument singing a circle sing-along.
