NEW BROCKTON, Ala. (WDHN) — Coffee County Family Services held its 20th annual ‘Toys for Tots’ Christmas giveaway event that serves one thousand children in Coffee County.

“We’re gonna be very grateful for the things that happen on Christmas morning for them,” Judy Crowley said.

The community donated over 300 bikes and toys for over 700 children to the organization to be given away to underprivileged families.

“It just means that Coffee County loves children and that’s the best thing I can say it’s just a grand gesture from the county to be able to donate all of these things and its individuals, groups, and businesses,” Crowley said.

Cars lined up in front of the Coffee County Farm Center while 20 to 30 volunteers brought out the bikes and toys.

“It’s always my favorite day of the year,” She said.

Coffee County Family Services serve families in a number of ways such as parenting classes, free tax preparations, and helping children with education.

Crowley said many of their families are struggling financially to keep a roof over their heads 24% of children in Coffee County live in poverty.

“We wanted to make sure every child share this magic and families are very stressed out because they don’t know how they are going to do all of that and they want their children to have the same things as other children,” Crowley said.
