Alabama reaches over 500,000 total COVID-19 cases

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Alabama reported total 500,092 COVID-19 cases Monday, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s dashboard.

Out of this number, 392,312 are confirmed cases, and 107,780 are probable ones. Despite a spike of 2,754 total cases reported on March 3, new daily cases have continued a downward trend, numbering well below 1,000 since that day.

Locally, Houston County leads in the number of confirmed cases. Here are the rankings of the confirmed cases and deaths in the Southeastern District.

  • Houston County — 5,441 cases; 158 deaths
  • Coffee County — 3,472 cases; 44 deaths
  • Dale County — 3,107 cases; 85 deaths
  • Covington County — 1,969 cases; 72 deaths
  • Butler County — 1,843 cases; 60 deaths
  • Pike County — 1,632 cases; 32 deaths
  • Geneva County — 1,632 cases; 34 deaths
  • Barbour County — 1,211 cases; 34 deaths
  • Henry County — 1,053 cases; 26 deaths
  • Crenshaw County — 1,091 cases; 47 deaths

As of this report, 295,690 people have recovered from the virus. A combined total of 10,148 deaths have been reported among the confirmed and probable cases.
