HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — The COVID-19 positivity rate in the state is the highest rate Alabama has seen during the whole pandemic.
On Thursday, the Alabama Department of Public Health reported 8,256 new COVID-19 cases. This is the most ever amount of cases reported during the nearly two years of the pandemic. With a positivity rate of 31.4%, the state has also recorded a new all-time high positivity rate. This is the first time the state has recorded a COVID-19 positivity rate above 30%.
All counties in the state are now considered ‘high’ for the spread of the coronavirus meaning the positivity rate in the county is higher than ten percent.
As COVID-19 cases continue to increase in the state, medical experts urge Alabamians to practice all CDC guidelines to help limit the spread of the virus.
