DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish has tested positive for COVID-19.

The chief experienced body aches, a low-grade fever, and the “sniffles” Sunday afternoon. After getting tested Monday morning, he tested positive for the virus.

“I am responding well to the medication, and I feel ok right now,” Parrish told WDHN. “I miss being at work, but I know the leadership has everything under control. I appreciate everyone’s prayers and concerns.”

Parrish urged residents to take the virus seriously and protect themselves.

“I can’t stress the importance of protecting yourselves as best you can,” he said. “If you have any symptoms get tested as early as possible.  You’ll know when  you feel something is wrong, act on it.”
