COFFEE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Coffee County EMA Director, James Brown has a mixed update on the current COVID-19 picture.

Statewide, Brown says the number of hospitalizations has gone from 2,800 down to a little more than 1,500 in three weeks.

But in Coffee County, a large percentage of the COVID related deaths recorded since the pandemic began a year and a half ago, were reported in just the last two months.

In Coffee County’s Alabama Department of Public Health region, Brown says that once again, there are now enough ICU beds to handle serious COVID-19 cases.
