DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The Cancer Center at Southeast Health has added a new linear accelerator to their department.
This linear accelerator is used to treat patients with radiation oncology. Now, with this addition, the Cancer Center has three machines to help patients.
It’s a much-needed boost — in radiation oncology, they are treating approximately 65 patients.
Before the third machine, the Cancer Center had to spend extended time on patients but now they can get them in much sooner.
“It makes it efficient newer technology, streamline and really target where the radiation is going to treat that tumor, its the latest and greatest technology through variant the company that makes the edge machine that we purchased, says Daniel Grantham.
Grantham says adding this new machine is a part of their ‘ cancer refresh’ which consists of bringing radiation oncology, chemotherapy and other services all under one umbrella for patients.
