19-year-old Cottonwood resident dies following weekend car crash with a 19-year-old resident from Panama City

BAY COUNTY, Fl. (WDHN) — A Cottonwood resident is dead following a car accident early Saturday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the 19-year-old Cottonwood resident was driving a 2000 Chevy pick-up truck on North East Avenue, just south of Douglas Road, when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a 2012 Nissan that was being driven by a 19-year-old from Panama City.

Both drivers were transported to a local medical center for treatment.

The Florida Highway Patrol announced the Cottonwood resident’s death Monday afternoon. No information has been released regarding the other driver.

According to the crash report, neither driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit will be conducting a delayed fatal crash investigation from this point forward.
