DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — 200 Houston County residents were without power on Sunday after severe weather moved through the Wiregrass.
The EMA says this kind of severe weather can happen at any time, especially in southeast Alabama.
EMA prepared for severe weather for a little more than a week, so when the time came, they were prepared:
“No, actually, we were very fortunate, we had a few powerlines down and a couple of trees that had popped, but other than that we didn’t receive any damage,” Houston County EMA Director Chris Judah said. “So we were very pleased with that and no injuries as well.”
The Houston County Emergency Management Agency says that the power has now been restored.
Judah encourages that people are prepared, have a plan, and also download the Houston County EMA app for any updates regarding severe weather.
