DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — 2,000 meals have been delivered around the Wiregrass by Turkeys from Heaven.

Due to a turkey shortage this year, the group was able to mix in some holidays hams to deliver. Each meal contained a ham or turkey, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, rolls, and an assortment of desserts. This is the 24th year that Turkeys from Heaven has hosted this event.

Turkeys from Heaven delivers food to a 60-mile radius of Dothan. The group receives the list of families from different local organizations to try and spread some holiday cheer.

“To spread some Christmas cheer to people who may not have it otherwise,” Co-founder of Turkeys from Heaven, Rebecca Marsella said. “Just let people know that there are people out there that care about them and make sure they have a holiday meal.”

Volunteers were not limited to the number of meals they could take to give to families and Marsella said it depends on how big their car is or how big their heart is.
