2021 Farm City Awards honor students and farmers throughout Henry County

HEADLAND, Ala. (WDHN) — This afternoon, Henry County farmers and students were honored at the 2021 Farm City Awards.

Awards were given to various farmers throughout the area, awards that included: Best category of crops at the National Peanut Festival.

Henry County school students participated in poster and essay contests that promoted the agriculture business and also talked about the importance that industry has had on their lives.

Scholarships were awarded to seniors at Headland High School. Agribusiness of the year was given to Lester Killibrew, who is chairman of SunSouth LLC, a tractor equipment company.

“I think it’s important to recognize the leaders, who are those that are trying to tell the story of agriculture,” Henry County farmer, Ed White said. “That’s the most important thing.”

The Farm City Awards ceremony was held in the new event center at Todd Farms in Headland, and afterward, participants toured Todd Farms.
