50th annual Harvest Festival kicks off in Headland this weekend

HEADLAND, Ala. (WDHN) — The city of Headland will be celebrating their 50th anniversary of the Harvest Festival this weekend.

The festival will kick off Friday night with their street dance and people will also be able to participate in a 5K run, or even a car show.

Then harvest day will take place on Saturday, throughout the day and people will be able visit local sponsors.

While celebrating Headland’s agricultural heritage and the 150th anniversary of the city of Headland.

“This is kind of the time of year where all of our farmers are really at work harvesting everything,” Executive Director of the Headland Area City of Commerce, Adrienne Wilkins said. “Their peanuts, their cotton, and more. It got started just celebrating them and thanking them. Our community has a rich agricultural heritage and this is the time of year we really let that shine.”

The Velcro Pygmies will also be performing at Harvest Fest on Friday night.
