DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The city of Dothan has seen eight murder cases throughout 2021, according to Dothan Police.

Over the past five years, the city of Dothan averages a little over eight murders a year. 2020 was different as the city only saw four murder cases, but police believe the pandemic had an impact on that number.

Dothan Police tell WDHN that over the past 45 years, the Circle City has had 174 murders that they can track and that they have been able to solve 86% of those.

The national average shows that a little over 55% of murders cases have been solved, over the last 45 years.
