HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — The owner of a piece of property in the Wicksburg area that’s been the scene of violence and death over the years is asking for a liquor license.
Horizon Bar and Grill is located on U.S. Highway-84 West, and it’s in the same location where Teasers’ Gentlemen’s Club” was located.
Last year, emergency responders handled two separate shootings within a four-month span, which led to that establishment shutting its doors.
Now, one of the same owners plans to open up a bar and grill and has asked the Houston County Commission for a liquor license.
The item has been put on the agenda to be voted on, but is raising questions from the commission:
“There are just concerns about another liquor license being given to the same operator when they had so many problems like Teasers’ had,” Houston County District 4 Commissioner, Brandon Shoupe said. “As the commissioner of that area, it is incumbent upon me to be responsible for those concerns.”
The license will be voted on at Monday morning’s Houston County Commission meeting, and the owner of Horizon Bar and Grill has been asked to be there to answer questions.
