HENRY COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — An Abbeville woman is dead after an early morning shooting in Henry County.
A little after midnight Sunday morning, the Henry County Sheriffs’ Office along with the Abbeville Police Department responded to a call on County Road 57 South for a possible firearm assault.
When officials arrived at the scene they found Barbara Williamson Shaw, 50, with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities arrested Jamie Earl Whitehead, 36, and charged him with murder.
According to the Henry County Sheriff, Whitehead was intoxicated when fled to nearby neighbors, and confessed that he shot Shaw in the head.
Henry County Sheriff, Will Maddox, tells WDHN that Shaw and Whitehead were living together at the time and had domestic violence issues in the past. He says this incident is also an issue of domestic violence.
Whitehead is now in the Henry County Jail with bonds totaling $200,000.
