Are you a high school or college student looking for a fun unique scholarship opportunity? PACE can help

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — The time for college application and scholarship deadlines is fast approaching and high school and college students in the Wiregrass will have the chance to compete for scholarship dollars.

Proclaiming America’s Call for Equality is holding its seventh-annual ‘Freedom Speaks, The Call of Lincoln and King’.

According to Maranda Weathers with PACE, Inc. Dothan, the goal is to make sure students develop an understanding of American history. This is why they ask students to select parts of either President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address or Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s ‘I Have a Dream Speech,’

“It allows students to compete for scholarships because there is $7,500 in scholarships that are awarded, Weathers said. “$7,500 dollars at the high school level and at the college level. For 2022 we do have a collegiate level division.”

Weathers tells WDHN News this is a way for students to connect with America’s historical past.

The competition is open for high school and college students, those interested can contact their
school guidance counselor and the organization’s Facebook page.
