ASHFORD, Ala. (WDHN) — The town of Ashford has welcomed a new park to the downtown area.
Since 2018, Ashford has been on a mission to bring a family-oriented park downtown which was a part of their master plan.
The park couldn’t come to fruition without a $50,000 grant from the Wiregrass Foundation and community support — Eastern Technologies and Summerford Trucking helped pitch in a total of $40,000 towards the total cost of over $100,000.
Brad Kimbro with the Ashford Redevelopment Downtown Authority said this is a breath of fresh air for the Ashford community.
A peaceful place that could host birthday parties and family reunions, or just a place to relax.
“It’s a quality of life in having something for a green space in a town and it compliments what we are trying to do to make Ashford more attractive and pretty,” Kimbro said.
Kimbro said he hopes to see the community enjoy it and they hope this project will breed more success for the area in the future.
