Dale County authorities awaiting new information on body found Thursday

UPDATE (WDHN) — Authorities said the body found Thursday afternoon, an unidentified female, was in the advanced staged of decomposition. Dothan Police Department’s Crime Scene Technicians were called to the scene to assist with the investigation. as well the FBI.

The Dale County Sheriff’s Department said the body was found in the 8000 block of South County Road 20, and investigators are waiting for identification from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

Authorities ask anyone who saw a female in the area of Woodham’s Bridge within the last few weeks to call the Dale County Sheriff’s Office at 334-774-2335.

DALE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) –  The Dale County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a body found off County Road 20, between County Road 18 and County Road 59 just east of Newton. 

Sheriff Wally Olson confirms to WDHN News a person was at the river when they stumbled upon the body and called authorities around 2 p.m. this afternoon. 

Right now, investigators are still processing the scene. The body  has been taken to forensic science to get a proper identification and determine a cause of death.

No other information is available this time as the investigation continues.
