DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Beverlye Intermediate School in Dothan kicked off their Thanksgiving break by swearing-in a new student government association senate.

One student was chosen from each class to represent that class in the SGA senate.

Beverlye Intermediate School has students from 3rd-6th grade and there are twenty-two different classes. Six 3rd grade classes, five 4th grade classes. Five 5th grade classes, and six 6th grade classes.

Each student was nominated and had to campaign for their seat, which also included a campaign video that the student had to make and show to their peers.

“Their peers saw something in them that allowed them to be able to nominate and vote for them to represent this school and their class,” Principal of Beverlye Intermediate School, Dr. Erica Hall said.

Tuesday was the last day of class for students in the Dothan City School system as they will be going on Thanksgiving break.
