BLAKELY, Ga. (WDHN)  — A Blakely Fire Department captain is recovering from injuries he received in a traffic crash Saturday morning.

Captain Nate Wimberly was traveling on Highway 200 early Saturday morning just inside the city limits of Blakely when he lost control of the vehicle, according to Early County Sheriff William “Fats” Price.

Blakely Police Chief Will Caudill said Wimberly was involved in the accident while working his part-time job with the Early County Sheriff’s Office.  He was airlifted to a Tallahassee hospital.

Sheriff Price said he spoke to Wimberly by phone Sunday morning and is doing well.

A post on the Blakely Police Department Facebook page read: “Nate is a special kind of public servant folks to hold down TWO jobs in public safety!!”

It is unclear if another vehicle was involved in the accident.
