ANDALUSIA, Ala. (WDHN) — An Andalusia teenager is behind bars with a million dollar bond after police connected him to a recent murder of a juvenile.
According to the Andalusia Police Department, Damien Beasley, 17, of Andalusia has been charged as an adult in the death of another teenager.
In a Facebpook post, the department said police began investigating after they received information about a possible homicide on Whatley Street on April 6. During their search, officers found biological and physical evidence that led them to the body of a white female.
Her name is not being released at the request of her family.
Officials later determined her death was caused by a single gunshot wound. The suspected murder weapon has been recovered.
Beasley faces a murder charge (which is a Class A felony and allows him to be charged as an adult) and is being held on a $1 million bond. Additional charges are pending and more arrests could be forthcoming.
The Andalusia Police Department expressed its appreciation to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, SBI, the Covington County Drug Task Force, and the Covington County District Attorney’s office for its assistance in the investigation.
