COFFEE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — Heavy rain has slowed construction of a long-sought project in Downtown Enterprise.
The city recently purchased several older homes adjacent to the Coffee County courthouse. The land was cleared, and the city along with the county have joined forces in building a parking lot.
Officials said the additional 50 parking spots are sorely needed during trial week which would make it easier for those wanting to shop downtown.
“It will also be good for Downtown Enterprise. Anyone who has shopped down there knows they desperately need some shopping,” Deputy Chief Engineer Michael Walters said.
Depending on the weather, the parking lot is expected to be completed by the end of next month or early September.
