COLUMBIA, Ala. (WDHN) — The Columbia volunteer fire department is coming together to show support for its fire chief’s family.
On new year’s day, Daniel Forrester’s family was involved in a car crash near Troy that killed his father ‘Arnie’ Forrester, and injured his mom and two sisters.
With the family being such an integral part of the Columbia community, the fire department is holding a Boston Butt fundraiser to help the family with expenses during this devastating time.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the town hall, Dothan and Columbia Fire Departments, Houston County EMA, and Arnolds Automotive.
“This is a time where we get to show what kind of family we truly are brothers and sisters coming together to help one of their own when they’re in trouble,” Richard Martin said. “We see it every day with mutual aid people coming in to help when we have a problem and now we’re seeing it in this instance.”
The pork cuts can be picked up on Jan.29 starting at noon at the Columbia police station. They’re also taking donations for the family at any of those places.
