HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — On Monday, the Houston County Commission will honor the work of former Wiregrass 2-1-1 Director David Duke.

Duke started his public service helping people when he worked for the Alfred Saliba family services center in 1996 – he spent 11 years there.

His time there is what led him and assisted him to start up Wiregrass 2-1-1 – he became the executive director in 2008.

So for 15 years, Duke helped the less fortunate and he says it was his calling and he has enjoyed every bit of it but it’s time for the next chapter.
