DALE COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — A Dale County man has been arrested on multiple charges after police say he stole a television and a handgun.

Cornelius Borders, 21, of Midland City, broke into an apartment on U.S. 134 and stole a television from an apartment, police say. At the time, a witness say they say a witness saw Borders break in and take the TV.

Then, Midland City Police Chief Jimmy Singleton says Borders attempted to break into another home nearby, even breaking a window, but was unsuccessful. Police later arrested Borders on Highway 134 and later recovered the stolen TV.

Borders confessed to his accused crimes, according to Chief Singleton.

There is also a warrant out of Dale County of a missing handgun, of which Borders is the main suspect. Midland City Police say they recovered the firearm in his possession.

Borders is currently in the Dale County Jail on charges of first-degree burglary, theft, burglary-non-residence, and third-degree criminal mischief.

More charges may be filed due to Borders allegedly having a stolen handgun.
