DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — After a brief investigation, Dothan police have found the origin of the threats made online against Dothan Preparatory Academy.

A juvenile has been charged with terrorist threats. Due to the age of the suspect, no more information is known about the minor involved.

Dothan City officials say an increased police presence at schools Monday morning.

According to the DCS code of conduct, the juvenile could face expulsion from school for the threat.


DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Dothan City Schools and Dothan Police are investigating a threat made on social media regarding Dothan Preparatory Academy.

The threat tells people to look out for a student with a gun.

“We will not tolerate threats of any nature, especially when they continually disrupt the school day and result in countless hours of work to determine their validity and secure the safety of students and staff,” Dothan City Schools said in a statement on Facebook.

DCS says they are working with the Dothan Police department Sunday night to determine the origin of the threat. Dothan Police officers are on scene at Dothan Prep.

Police will have an increased presence at schools tomorrow and longer if necessary, according to DCS spokesperson Megan Dorsey.

Dothan Police say they expect to release more information later Sunday night.
