DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — What’s described as an early morning argument between two Dothan men nearly turned deadly for one of them on Sunday.

The owner of the home in Dothan where it all allegedly went down tells WDHN it started as an argument between the alleged shooter, Samuel David Grimsley, 31, and his girlfriend.

When their argument got more and more heated, Grimsley’s girlfriend called another man for help.

That man happened to be the father of her child.

The owner says he arrived at the residence, and the argument turned into more than words.

That’s when Grimsley allegedly pulled a gun and shot the victim several times in the upper chest.

Police got a call early Sunday of a firearm assault at the house on Shannondoah Drive near 3rd Avenue.

Police recovered the firearm in the woods behind the property.

The victim was in critical condition but is now reportedly in stable condition.

Sources close to him say he’s still in the hospital.

Grimsley is behind bars, facing one count of attempted murder and charges for three separate parole violations.

He’s currently in the Houston County Jail with no bond set.

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A Dothan man accused of attempted murder has been arrested, according to Dothan police.

Early on Sunday, police responded to a firearm assault in the 2300 Block of Shannondoah Drive.

Upon arrival, Samuel David Grimsley, 31, of Dothan had allegedly shot another victim multiple times in the upper chest.

Authorities say the shooting likely occurred due to a domestic-related arguement.

The victim of the shooting was in critical condition from his injuries but is now reportedly in stable condition.

The firearm was located behind the property in the woods.

Grimsley is charged with one count of attempted murder, and three parole violations.

Grimsley is currently in the Houston County Jail with no bond set.
