DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN)— After attempting to run from Houston County Deputies, a Dothan man has been arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl and faces a hefty bond, per the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a release from the HCSO, on November 18, Houston County Sheriff’s Investigators performed a traffic stop in the 200 Block of Crawford Street. During the stop, the suspect, identified as Martavous Ladareyan Byrd, 26, of Dothan, attempted to flee.

Deputies pursuing Byrd performed a successful pit maneuver and stopped him near the intersection of South Lena Street and West Main Street.

According to the release, Byrd was found to be in possession of fifty fentanyl pills and was charged with drug trafficking(fentanyl), and attempting to elude.

Byrd faces a total bond of $1,505,000:

  • Drug Trafficking (fentanyl)- $1,500,000
  • Attempting to Elude- $5,000
