DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A 22-year-old man is facing 50 additional child sex charges after a four-month-long investigation by Dothan police.
According to the Dothan Police Department, in November 2022, police began an investigation after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) about a local man who had electronically transmitted a pornographic image of an underage minor.
After a lengthy investigation, Domingo Ortiz Velasquez was arrested in early January and charged with the Dissemination or Display of Child Pornography. He had a set bond of $30,000.
Police say that after his arrest, investigators continued to gather evidence, and as a result, Velasquez has now been charged with 50 counts of Possession of Child Pornography. His bond for these charges has been set at $750,000
Due to the sensitive nature of this case and the Alabama Juvenile privacy laws, no further details will be released.
