EARLY COUNTY, Ga. (WDHN) — The coroner for Early County, Georgia has pleaded guilty to two charges of misdemeanor sexual battery.

Todd Hunter, the current coroner of Early County, was arrested in August of 2021 on charges of sexual battery.

The Georgia Bureau of the investigation alleged that he sexually assaulted one person at his home.

Hunter, who pleaded guilty on April 22, has been sentenced to two years of probation and will have to pay a $1,000 fine.

He is also required to resign from his job as coroner within 14 days, or face another appearance before the judge, according to Early County District Attorney Ronald McNease Jr. Hunter is also now barred from running in any elected office within the county again.

The charge of felony violation of oath of office, which he was also charged with in 2021, was dismissed in the case since the judge ruled that allegations against Hunter did not meet the criteria for the charge, according to the DA.
