DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN)—On Wednesday, May 31, at approximately 6:10 p.m., officers rushed to a firearm assault in the 3100 block of East Main Street, at the American Inn Motel. 

According to Dothan Police, when officers arrived, they found a victim on the road, and when Dothan Fire and Rescue arrived, they discovered the victim had not been shot but had lacerations to the hands.

Police say, after interviewing multiple witnesses at the scene, it was determined a fight took place between the suspect and victim inside a room and the victim was chased from the room by the suspect.

During the chase, the suspect shot at the victim, according to police.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment and was later released.

After the investigation, Joshua Immanuel Baxter was arrested and charged with Attempted Assault First Degree and is currently being held in the Houston County Jail with no bond.

Additional charges may be added, pending the ongoing investigation.
