ELBA, Ala. (WDHN) — Elba’s police chief and his officers have targeted drugs and burglaries in several neighborhoods, ending with two arrests.

Brandon Baker, 41, of Brundidge, was charged with drug trafficking and several other narcotics and firearm charges. Currently, he’s being held in the Coffee County Jail under a total bond of $80,000.

In addition, Markus Purswell, 27, of Samson, was arrested on charges of attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, public intoxication, and felony probation violations.

Since he became police chief last December, Troy Staley, says he’s working to be proactive in trying to curtail crime before escalating into more violent felonies.
