MALVERN, Ala. (WDHN) — Authorities with the Geneva County Sheriff’s Office are thanking a community for letting them know of a crime taking place.

Over the weekend, authorities say they arrested Jonathan Rhodes of Columbia, Alabama while burglarizing a vacant home off Main Street in Malvern.

In addition, they reportedly found drugs in the 29-year-old suspect’s vehicle. Sheriff Tony Helms says they got phone calls from concerned citizens who realized that nobody should have been inside the home.

Rhodes is charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree theft of property, and possession of a controlled substance.

He’s currently being held in the Geneva County Jail.
