GENEVA COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — A man was arrested on Friday after a routine traffic stop that turned into a drug bust.
According to Geneva County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post on Monday night, Sheriff Tony Helms conducted a routine traffic stop at approximately 5:40 p.m. on a Chevrolet Cavalier with Alabama license plates at the intersection of Sizemore Highway and West Robin Ave in Geneva.
Sheriff Helms identified the driver to be Joe Titus Johnson, 27, of Dothan. Upon searching Johnson’s pocket, Sheriff Helms recovered approximately one and a half ounces of a white crystallized substance believed to be methamphetamine. Also located on Johnson’s waistband on the right side of his back was a handgun.
Johnson was arrested for drug trafficking, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, as well as another outstanding warrant.
Johnson has since been booked into the Geneva County Jail without incident
