HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. (WDHN) — The victim from Friday morning’s shooting in Houston County has been identified as Lashawn Poke, 41, of Dothan.
Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd says his cause of death was a gunshot wound.
Sources say Poke was with a woman at the home and then the woman’s husband came home.
Things escalated between Poke and the man.
The man then allegedly shot Poke.
According to court records, Poke was serving time in Community Corrections, which allows inmates to work jobs outside of being in jail.
He was sent to serve his sentence in CCO in December of 2021.
Poke was serving time for promoting prison contraband, but he also had a domestic violence-strangulation charge that was going through the court system.
More information is expected to be released by the Houston County Sheriff’s Office when it becomes available.
