DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A high-speed chase through Houston County ended in Headland after police say the driver ran off the road and tried to run.

At around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, Dothan Patrol Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 1000 Block of Ross Clark Circle.

According to Dothan Police, when the officer got out of the patrol car and approached the vehicle, the driver sped away, and a high-speed pursuit began.

Police say the driver, identified as Christian Jarus, turned onto Highway 52 towards Webb, continued to the Headland area, and the chase ended on Highway 22 after Jarus ran off the road and attempted to flee on foot, but was soon caught.

Jarus is charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, attempting to elude, reckless endangerment, and a felony warrant out of Coffee County for probation violation

Jarus is currently in the Houston County Jail and will soon be extradited to Coffee County.
