DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — Police have arrested a local private investigator after a Houston County Grand Jury indicted him on four counts of theft by deception.

According to Dothan Police, in November 2021, DPD received a complaint from a person claiming a local PI, William (Bill) Robison, had taken advantage of them while doing business and during the investigation, more victims came forward with the same claim.

Police say that after an investigation, the facts were presented to a Houston County Grand Jury, which issued indictments on four counts of Theft of Property by Deception in the first degree.

While the grand jury was convening, another victim came forward and a warrant for theft of Property by Deception in the first degree was obtained, according to Dothan Police.

On Monday, May 1, 2023, law enforcement executed search warrants at Robison’s home in Wicksburg, and Robison, 55 years old, was taken into custody and is being held on a $150,000 bond. Warrants were also executed at his business on West Main Street, Bill Robison Investigations. Robison is charged with a total of five counts of Theft of Property by Deception.

According to an affidavit, during the search of his home, police found over 50 firearms, 2 ATVs, 3 watercraft vehicles, six vehicles, $47,800 in cash, and numerous bank records.

After the search, Houston County District Attorney Russ Goodman asked that the court seize and freeze Robison’s account at Regions Bank, in which Goodman claimed Robison had made several large cash deposits over the past 30 days.

It is my belief that the defendent (Robison) will continue to access those funds held in these accounts unless this court seizes those funds and holds them until a determination of whether those funds are a product of illegal activity.

Judge Maurice Steensland later issued the freeze and seizure order.

Robison’s website, known as Bill Robison Investigations or GetEvidenceNow, states they specialize in insurance fraud, surveillance investigations, child custody, and more.
