JACKSON COUNTY, Fla (WDHN) — A man in Jackson County was arrested after deputies say he choked a woman and fled into the woods.
On Monday, February 6, deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address in Round Lake in reference to a domestic disturbance.
According to the JCSO, during an investigation into the incident, deputies determined that the suspect, Ricky Schrader, struck a female victim in the face and choked her to the point where she could not breathe. Before deputies arrived, Schrader fled on foot and the victim said that he was armed with a knife and axe handle.
A responding deputy spotted Schrader on the side of Highway 231, after which he fled into the woods. Deputies set a perimeter was established and JCSO K-9 Tracking Unit was dispatched. After a nearly 2-mile track, Deputies apprehended Schrader and took him into custody, according to the JSCO.
Schrader was charged with Domestic Battery by Strangulation, Resisting Arrest, False Imprisonment, and Animal Cruelty.
