MIDLAND CITY, Ala (WDHN) — A Dothan man was arrested this week on a warrant issued in 2022 on domestic violence and rape charges.

In November 2022, the Midland City Police Department began an investigation after receiving a report of rape from an unidentified woman.

According to the Midland City Police Department, after an investigation, 27-year-old Andrew Kennamore was named the prime suspect and in November, a warrant was issued on the charges of rape in the first degree and Domestic Violence Strangulation.

Police say that after the warrant was issued, officers learned Kennamore was being held in the Houston County Jail on a domestic violence charge and a warrant was sent to the jail, but instead of being transported to the MPD, he was released from custody.

On Wednesday, March 15, Midland City Police arrested Kennamore at his job in Houston County, according to MPD Chief Jimmy Singleton.

A first appearance for Kennamore was held on Thursday, March 16, and a ruling on a bond will be made at a later date.

Kennamore is currently being held in the Dale County Jail.
