WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WDHN) — Thursday afternoon, Walton County Sheriff’s deputies caught escaped Coffee County inmate Danny Peyton in a wooded area of Defuniak Springs.

In late March, the 47-year-old walked away from a job detail. Coffee County Sheriff Dave Sutton says Walton County’s K9 tracking dog Lulu was able to catch Peyton.

The 47-year-old had attempted to flee from Florida authorities before Lulu caught him.

Peyton was arrested in Enterprise in April of 2021 and was held on burglary, bond revocation, and theft of property charges.

He’s being held at the Walton County Jail. It’s not known if he’ll fight extradition back to Alabama.
